April 2026 Newsletter: Meet Jeff & Spring Security Cleanup
As we move deeper into the second quarter of 2026, it is becoming increasingly clear that this year serves as a critical turning point for business technology. The pace of change is no longer just "fast", it is exponential. If your organization is still operating on the strategies of 2024 or 2025, you are already at a significant competitive and security disadvantage. At Frankel Technology Services, we believe that staying ahead requires a mix of the right people, the right tools, and a relentless focus on proactive maintenance.
In this month’s update, we are shaking things up. We have a major team announcement, a recap of essential security strategies you might have missed in March, and a serious warning about a new scam that is tricking even savvy users. Plus, it is time for some Spring Cleaning, and we aren't just talking about dusting off your monitors.
A New Face at Frankel: Welcome Jeff Reichert
We have some exciting news regarding our internal team that directly impacts how we serve your business. We are thrilled to introduce Jeff Reichert, our new Account Manager.
Jeff brings a fresh perspective and a deep commitment to ensuring that your technology alignment matches your business goals. As your primary point of contact for strategic planning and hardware lifecycle management, Jeff’s goal is to move you away from "reactive" IT and toward a predictable, high-performance environment.
You can expect to hear from Jeff in the coming weeks as he introduces himself and begins reviewing your current technology roadmap.

Looking Back: March Article Highlights
Before we dive into the new challenges of April, you may want to review two critical security articles Tim released in March. We recommend that if you haven't sat down with your leadership team to discuss these, you should do so.
1. Blurred Lines are breaking security
In Blurred Lines are breaking security, Tim highlighted a growing problem in modern IT environments: the boundaries between devices, identities, applications, and networks are no longer as clear as they used to be.
2. Application Whitelisting is your BulletProof Vest
If you are our managed services client, you have probably run into ThreatLocker at some point. It is our highest-value security tool, but it does occasionally complicate things if you are running an update or an installation. Find out why this tool is an essential part of keeping you safe in Tim's article on Application Whitelisting is your BulletProof Vest…
Unleashing the Power of AI
We continue to deepen our partnership with Hatz.ai. For those who are still exploring the possibilities of Artificial Intelligence within their workflow, Hatz.ai represents the cutting edge of multi-model AI power.
Why does this matter for your security? Using "public" versions of AI tools can lead to sensitive corporate data being leaked into training sets. By using a managed AI solution like Hatz through Frankel, you ensure that your data remains your data. You get the productivity boost of 2026 technology without the 2026 liability.

Security Tip: The "I Am Not A Robot" Trap
Cybercriminals are getting incredibly creative, and their latest tactic is as clever as it is dangerous. We have seen a surge in a new type of phishing attack that mimics the standard "I am not a robot" (CAPTCHA) verification check.
Here is how the scam works:
You land on a website that looks legitimate, and a popup appears asking you to verify you are human. However, instead of asking you to click on pictures of traffic lights, it gives you a set of "verification steps." It might tell you to press a specific key combination (like Windows + R), paste a line of code into a Command Prompt (CMD) or PowerShell window, and hit enter.
Stop. Do not do this.
By following these instructions, you are literally giving the hacker a direct line to execute malicious code on your computer. This bypasses many traditional security filters because you are the one authorizing the command.

Spring Cleaning Your Network
The arrival of April means it is time for Spring Cleaning. In the world of managed IT, that does not just mean clearing out your inbox or replacing an aging PC. It is also the perfect time to take a hard look at your wireless network.
Ubiquiti networking has taken a major step forward in 2026, and that makes this a smart time to consider a refresh. With the continued rollout of UniFi Wi-Fi 7 access points, new multi-gigabit capabilities, stronger interference management, wireless networks now have better tools to stay fast, responsive, and reliable. In plain language: your team gets a better connection where they work, and your business gets a stronger foundation for the future.
For many clients, this is the perfect time to Spring Clean your network and refresh outdated wireless setups with the latest Ubiquiti advances.
We are ready to help you ditch the old, slow gear and move to a shiny new wireless environment that keeps your business fast and reliable. We can help you evaluate your current setup, identify problem areas, recommend the right Ubiquiti upgrades, and ensure the transition is smooth from planning through deployment.
Moving Forward with Confidence
The technology landscape of 2026 is full of both opportunities and sophisticated threats. At Frankel Technology Services, our mission is to navigate these waters for you so you can focus on running your business. Whether it is integrating AI into your workflow, tightening your defenses, or simply ensuring your team isn't fighting with their hardware every morning, we are here to help.
